Annual flagship celebration
Shayama Puja (Kali Puja)

Shayama Puja — the same celebration known widely as Kali Puja — is Oikotan's flagship festival. For a few nights the BK Enclave Community Hall in Miyapur turns into a pandal of lights, flowers and alpona, with the sound of dhak carrying through the neighbourhood.
What the day looks like
- Decorated pandal and traditional alpona work by our volunteers
- Full ritual puja with dhak, dhunuchi and evening aarti
- Bhog and prasad served to everyone who attends
- Community stalls with food, sarees, jewellery and handicrafts
- Cultural evening with songs, dance and recitation by members
Taking part
Families join in for the rituals, volunteers help with decoration and bhog, and local vendors can book a stall. Reach out to us for stall booking or volunteering.
